An Ode to Allama Iqbal
فطرت کو خرد کے روبرو کر
(Fitrat ko khirad ke roobaru kar)
تسخیر مقام رنگ و بو کر
(Taskeer-e-maqam-e-rang o boo kar)
تو اپنی خودی کو کھو چکا ہے
(Tu apni khudi ko kho chuka hai)
کھوئی ہوئی شے کی جستجو کر
(Khoi hui shay ki justuju kar)
تاروں کی فضا ہے بیکرانہ
(Taron ki fiza hai baekarana)
تو بھی یہ مقام آرزو کر
(Tu bhi yeh maqam-e-aarzu kar)
بے ذوق نہیں اگرچہ فطرت
(Be-zauq nahi agarche fitrat)
جو اس سے نہ ہو سکا وہ تو کر۔
(Jo us se na ho saka woh tu kar)
Translation:
Merge nature with intellect's grace,
Conquer realms with hues in the chase.
Lost in self, seek what's gone,
Chase desires, at dawn.
In the vast space of starry gleam,
Yearn for this place and let dreams stream.
No taste is dull in nature's core,
Do the undoable, crave for more.
