One burns straw, one field of reed's shame.

مقام پرورش آہ و نالہ ہے یہ چمن
نہ سیر گل کے لیے ہے نہ آشیاں کے لیے

This garden is for mournful strains,
No place for nests or rose petal gains.

رہے گا راوی و نیل و فرات میں کب تک
ترا سفینہ کہ ہے بحر بیکراں کے لیے

How long shall your ship float in the Ravi, Nile, and Euphrates flow?
When the Ocean calls, there are no boundaries to know.

نشان راہ دکھاتے تھے جو ستاروں کو
ترس گئے ہیں کسی مرد راہ داں کے لیے

Once guides to stars, now lost in the dark,
Seeking a leader to leave their mark.

نگہ بلند سخن دل نواز جاں پرسوز
