An Ode to Kaif Moradaabadi

جو سچ پوچھو تو خود جیتے ہیں اور جینا سکھاتے ہیں
(Jo sach poochho to khud jeetay hain aur jeena sikhaatay hain)

وہ دیوانے جو ہر طوفان غم میں مسکراتے ہیں
(Woh deewaanay jo har toofaan-e-gham mein muskuraatay hain)

وہی کچھ زندگی میں زندگی کا بھید پاتے ہیں
(Wohi kuch zindagi mein zindagi ka bhed paatay hain)

جو پیہم جستجو کرتے ہیں برسوں غم اٹھاتے ہیں
(Jo paiham justuju karte hain, barson gham uthaatay hain)

Translation:

If you ask honestly, they live fully themselves and teach others how to live,
Those passionate souls who smile through every storm of sorrow.

It is they who uncover life’s deepest secrets,
Who remain in constant pursuit and carry sorrow for years.
