تو شناسائے خراش عقدہ مشکل نہیں

اے گل رنگیں ترے پہلو میں شاید دل نہیں

The knots of my heart are not so hard to unbind,
O rose-colored one, perhaps you're heartless, you'll find.

زیب محفل ہے شریک شورش محفل نہیں
یہ فراغت بزم ہستی میں مجھے حاصل نہیں

This gathering is lovely, but not boisterous enough,
This void in existence, I cannot get rid of.

اس چمن میں میں سراپا سوز و ساز آرزو
اور تیری زندگانی بے گداز‌ آرزو

In this garden, I yearn with ceaseless desire,
And for your life, my longing knows no boundary, no fire.

توڑ لینا شاخ سے تجھ کو مرا آئیں نہیں
یہ نظر غیر از نگاہ چشم صورت بيں نہیں

Breaking you from the branch, no return there can be,
This gaze is not just a glance, it sees beyond what's seen.

آہ یہ دست جفا جو اے گل رنگیں نہیں
کس طرح تجھ کو یہ سمجھاؤں کہ میں گلچیں نہیں

Oh, the pain of these unjust hands, O rose-colored one,
How can I explain that I am not just a garden, undone?

کام مجھ کو دیدہ حکمت کے الجھيڑوں سے کیا
دیدہ بلبل سے میں کرتا ہوں نظارہ تیرا

What use is wisdom's confusion, when I am drenched in tears,
I see you through the eyes of a nightingale, shedding fears.

سو زبانوں پر بھی خاموشی تجھے منظور ہے
راز وہ کیا ہے ترے سینے میں جو مستور ہے

Silence is enough for you, in many languages, it's true,
What is the secret concealed that beats within you?

میری صورت تو بھی اک برگ ریاض طور ہے
میں چمن سے دور ہوں تو بھی چمن سے دور ہے

Even my appearance, like a fallen leaf, I'm far from this garden,
But still not too far, from where my heart's pardoned.

مطمئن ہے تو پریشاں مثل بو رہتا ہوں میں
زخمیٔ شمشیر ذوق جستجو رہتا ہوں میں

If you are certain, then I am like a restless moth,
Seeking the taste of a sword wound, longing for warmth.

یہ پریشانی مری سامان جمعيت نہ ہو
یہ جگر سوزی چراغ خانۂ حکمت نہ ہو

This unease must not become society's load,
Nor should my burning heart be a house of knowledge, behold.

ناتوانی ہی مری سرمایۂ قوت نہ ہو
رشک جام جم مرا آئینۂ حیرت نہ ہو

My weakness should not be my only source of might,
Nor should my envy reflect a mirror of delight.

یہ تلاش متصل شمع جہاں افروز ہے
توسن ادراک انساں کو خرام آموز ہے

Learning from your understanding is wisdom that we can handle.
