شبِ انتظار آخر کبھی ہوگی مختصر بھی
Shab-e-intizaar aakhir kabhi hogi mukhtasar bhi

یہ چراغ بجھ رہے ہیں میرے ساتھ جلتے جلتے
Yeh charaagh bujh rahe hain mere saath jalte jalte

Translation:

I happened to meet someone by chance while walking along the road,
And right there, my night came to a standstill as it began to fade.
What I could never bring myself to say — the world is now repeating,
For my unspoken words have turned into a legend, over time, slowly.
Will this night of waiting ever come to a close?
These lamps are burning out, slowly, along with me.
