An Ode To Shaukat Wasti

دھڑکن سا کوئی دل میں سوا بول رہا ہے
A voice whispers within my heart's beat,

اس ساز میں خود نغمہ سرا بول رہا ہے
An instrument playing its own sweet treat.

کھلتا ہی نہیں تیرا طلسم لب و لہجہ
Your magic hides in speech and tone,

کیا جانیے خاموش ہے یا بول رہا ہے
Is it silent or speaking, it's unknown.

یہ لفظ کہ چڑھ کر ہوا تھا گنگ زباں پر
Words, like wind, once took flight,

کاغذ پر اتارا ہے تو کیا بول رہا ہے
On paper, they now come to light.

یہ وہ ہی پرندہ ہے کہ سادھے ہوئے چپ تھا
A bird, once quiet, now finds its voice,

اس طرح جو اب ہو کے رہا بول رہا ہے
Speaking freely, making its choice.

شوکتؔ ہے پیاپے جو رواں قافلہ دم کا
Shaukat is a traveler with a breath's sway,
Heart as a canvas, and voice as the way,

دل صورت آواز درا بول رہا ہے
Expressing emotions, and thoughts untold,
In simple words, a story unfolds.
